Seafood store and takeaway Grunskes (11e Petersen St) is a great spot for fresh seafood and gourmet foods.

Grunskes also have a nice little pantry of local goodies like Bunda Ginga, herbs, lemons, bread, smallgoods, bacon. They have cold storage available so if you aren’t going home straight away be sure to ask for a box and some ice!

Bundaberg Rum Distillery at Avenue Street

Next you can put the Bundaberg Distillery on your trip and take in a tour, or just pick up some of their goodies at the store, rum goes good with anything right? They are on Avenue Street, East Bundaberg and well worth it just for a pic with the big rum bottle!

Bundaberg Brewed Drinks at 147 Bargara Road

Bundaberg Brewed Drinks Barrel is also a good stop off at 147 Bargara Road – six packs, cartons, variety combos – you can have it all, but the ginger beer is still a favourite of mine!

Zielke Family Farm Gate Stall at 277 Bargara Road

On the left just after you pass Kalkie School heading towards Bargara, at 277 Bargara Road you'll find the Zielke family farm gate. In season, you might find some bunches of lavender, potatoes and sweet corn – be sure to look out for a blackboard and old rusty wheelbarrow bearing the goods!

Red Shed Fruit & Vegetables at 785 Burnett Heads Road

785 Burnett Heads Road | Bundaberg, Queensland

When you come to the roundabout take a left and detour a bit towards Bundaberg Port – at 785 Burnett Heads Road open from Wednesday to Sunday you will find The Red Shed, stocked with over 30 different local producers wares – everything from ginger, mushrooms, tomatoes, spring onions, potato, corn, capsicums.

Banks Springhill Strawberries at 112 Springhill Road, Rubyanna

In strawberry season (generally June to November), a little further down the road Banks Springhill Strawberries have a stall about 1km on the left hand side. Keep an eye out for signs.

Robertson Flower Farm at 451 Bargara Road

451 Bargara Road | Bundaberg, Queensland

Head back towards Bargara and get back on Bargara Road a little way up from the round about on the left you will see Robertson Flowers. There are sunflowers, lily’s, glady’s and others popping out of the ground here and every Friday from 8:30 to 5pm, beautiful big bunches for $15 with either cash or eftpos available at the well signed farm gate.

Farm Gate Stall at 485 Bargara Road

Tractors, sugar cane, sweet potatoes, ginger, watermelons, pumpkins, potato, zucchini, flowers and more grow along this stretch of road and it’s such a nice vista to take in as a visitor or a local – I never get tired of the sight of sprinklers or tractors ploughing the fields.

At 485 Bargara Road, in zucchini season, there is a wooden box with bags of zucchinis for $2.

Be careful if you are crossing the road!

Mortimers Sweet Potatoes at 537 Bargara Road

Next stop is sweet potato town! Mortimers Sweet potatoes have a purpose-built little container at 537 Bargara Road with $2 bags of fresh sweet potato. Their facebook page has lots of great ideas of what to do with it! But I love it cut, par-boiled and roasted to make chips! YUM!

Bargara Berries at 100 Hughes Road, Bargara

As you nearly make your way into Bargara, take a right to Hughes Road where you will find Bargara Berries – open from June, their farm gate has strawberries, preserves and jams – it’s berry good!

Continue back into Bargara and grab a coffee or some fresh, locally made gelato from The Windmill on See St, sink your toes in the sand or watch the waves for a while snacking on your new found fresh treats!
